Southern Author’s Novel a Psychological Drama
RIMRIC / COLUMBIA, SC (24 September, 1998)

M.R.M. Parrott’s novel “To Lie Within the Moment,” set on the coast of Alabama, tells how one man deals with his wife’s suicide. “Imagine Jim, an intelligent and philosophical man, who has seen his wife’s end,” the author says, “his series of moods are ripe for poetry.” The style of the novel is reminiscent of Virginia Woolf, he adds.

The novel has been well received in the initial Southeast signing events, and is available through Barnes & Noble, and directly over the internet, from rimric.com, Barnes & Noble’s online store, and Amazon.com. The website devoted to the author’s work is mrmparrott.com, which is managed by Parrott, and (rimric.com) has won numerous web awards for its design and content. The first chapter [was] on the site, along with selections from Parrott’s other books.

There is an interesting story behind “To Lie Within the Moment,” which took six years to germinate for Parrott, and after having tried for years to start on this novel, he was finally able to sit down and write it in three months with little revision.

A controversial element to the book, though, is a female character who is lover both to husband and wife, with steamy scenes between the characters. There’s another interesting story behind this character, who provides an extra layer of meaning and mystery to the book.

M.R.M. Parrott, based in Columbia, South Carolina, is signing “To Lie Within the Moment” on a regional tour with Barnes & Noble. He has also partnered with an internet based consulting firm, to distribute the book directly from rimric.com. “The purchasing process is the same as what is offered by the large online bookstores,” Parrott says, “and uses a secure ordering technology.” The novel is $24.95, plus shipping, available online, and from Barnes & Noble.

M.R.M. Parrott’s books include the novel trilogy “Timeless”, a novella, “To Lie Within the Moment”, Philosophy and Science series “Dynamism”, monographs in Philosophy, and chapbooks of poems and short stories.
