rimric press launches publications
RIMRIC / COLUMBIA, SC (05 September, 2000)

Building on a new product base initiative from parent company rimric, rimric press is launching three publications to focus on literary books and artists, filmmakers, and opinion pieces.

The publications, rimric folio, rimric montage, and rimric sequitur, will be interactive, interlinked and supportive of work which is perhaps outside mainstream press coverage. rimric folio will also appear in tabloid newsprint, to start in Columbia, South Carolina with a cover price of $2.00.

“There are a lot of publications out there, and many web magazines”, editor in chief M.R.M. Parrott says, “but what we want to do is avoid trying to list what’s popular; that’s what most others are doing. We want to ‘do it differently’”. The publications will attempt to establish audiences who are interested in creative projects off the beaten track and project to a worldwide audience via the web, and national distribution in print.

rimric folio, focusing on books and artwork, will be issued monthly, and rimric sequitur, on opinions and editorials, will appear off schedule, in numbered issues, something which can really only be done on the internet.

rimric press has had success with “To Lie Within the Moment”, a first novel from M.R.M. Parrott. The small press has worked on a strategy which allows efficient production and brand recognition in the particularly difficult current publishing environment dominated by blockbuster titles. “It is a very hard proposition to find a publication’s equilibrium between the ‘kitchen table’ newsletter and the multi-million dollar glossy with instant national distribution. We decided rimric publications could exist in that middle ground and also be unique. At this point, all we can do is get started”.

M.R.M. Parrott’s books include the novel trilogy “Timeless”, a novella, “To Lie Within the Moment”, Philosophy and Science series “Dynamism”, monographs in Philosophy, and chapbooks of poems and short stories.
