A Novel Trilogy
A Novel Trilogy
M.R.M. Parrott's tenth book is the 2003 first novel of Timeless. Book I is about Major Milona Devon, a UN Reconnaissance Special Force operative who is beside herself with a temporal problem. A trilogy of future spies, technology, and conspiracy, the novels of Timeless are thriller and suspense stories with a backdrop of science fiction. Each novel follows one of the main characters in a trio of closely interconnected narratives in which ethical dilemmas, technical conundrums, and political forces all threaten global stability in ways mirroring our own times.

In Book I, the story centers on Milona Devon, who must travel through time to the distant past to investigate a professor, Peter Nexin. Her mission becomes much more difficult after she realizes she is falling for him. But the story also introduces a view of how our distant future might look, neither utopian nor distopian, with a world government and single global military force in a reborn United Nations and NATO. The use of time travel is also presented as much as a problem as a boon, including treatment of the “grandfather paradox”, and hints of extraterrestrial interest.
About the Trilogy: On the surface, there is a love story involving an alluring agent, a story of action, spies and murder, and a government desperate to save the world from destruction. Underneath, duty is rooted in an ethical dilemma, whereby one must weigh the sacrifice of one for the many. Involved is a complex journey of discovery, and tensions between career, friends and family.
