A Fair Hope

M.R.M. Parrott's twentieth book, A Fair Hope: My Family's Love and Loss, is his most deeply personal and emotional work to date. Set mainly in Fairhope Alabama, the book is a blend of non-fiction, memoir, and fiction, telling the story of the author's family history, the tragic death of his father, how their lives developed afterward, and how different things might well have been had his father not been killed. The manuscript was written in only four months, the text pouring out as the author grieved his father, and since 2023, his mother and sister. A Fair Hope touches on pointed questions of Religion and Atheism, as well as poignant themes of love and loss.

What can I say, this was a work like none other. I had the idea early in 2026, and then researched and wrote a full-length manuscript in four months. The final book is almost 82,000 words, and has more features than any of my other books. It is a tribute to my father, mother, sister, and step-father, as well as my wider family. It is also a tribute to Fairhope Alabama, and a number of other locations in Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida.
